Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare has urged staff to improve service delivery and ensure that public needs are met efficiently.
Ngurare addressed staff members at the Office of the Prime Minister in Windhoek on Monday. Ngurare said government services must reach people in ways that suit them best.
He said as the population grows, there is a need to automate key services and conduct regular performance reviews for staff.
These services should be delivered to them in a manner that will serve their needs best.If the service should reach them through digital platforms or through in-person engagements, then we must know exactly what they need and how we will address those needs, said Ngurare.
Ngurare warned against any unethical or corrupt practices in handling goods or procurement.
“The women, the youth, and rural communities must deliberately benefit in this process of procurement. And it also means, as I have said in the meeting with the EDs, we must be able to think out of the box when we are interacting with our people. It cannot be correct that when elections are held, we go and campaign, we talk to our people, but when the development budget comes, suddenly things are not benefiting them,” says Ngurare.
Ngurare added that local goods should be prioritised, and all suppliers should be given a fair chance in procurement.
