The Judiciary has confirmed that Acting Judge Marelize du Plessis is no longer assigned to the multi-million-dollar Fishrot corruption case, with trial dates yet to be determined. Responding to an inquiry by the NBC, Judiciary spokesperson Vikitoria Hango revealed that Du Plessis’s acting appointment ended on July 31st, after which she returned to the Regional Court. The high-profile case will now be managed by judges appointed by the Judge-President until it is ready for trial. While Judge Eileen Rakow recently presided over proceedings and is scheduled to hear an interlocutory application brought by accused Ricardo Gustavo on November eleventh, she clarified in court that she will not preside over the main trial. The Judiciary has not yet named the judge who will ultimately hear the main trial.
