Namib Desert Diamonds (NAMDIA) hosted Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industries, Mines and Energy, Natangue Ithete, at its headquarters on Monday, 15 September 2025.
According to the diamond marketing and sales company, the high-level delegation, including Executive Director Moses Pakote and other ministry officials, was received by NAMDIA’s Board of Directors, executive management, and staff. The visit aimed to deepen collaboration and reaffirm the Ministry’s support for NAMDIA’s strategic direction.
NAMDIA Chairperson Justus Hausiku welcomed the delegation, highlighting the company’s nine-year record of fulfilling its mandate as a price discovery mechanism and generating above-average returns for Namibia. He acknowledged recent challenges, including market volatility and the January 2025 security breach, and outlined steps taken to enhance internal security, restore public trust, and support staff.
A statement issued by the company said that the delegation toured NAMDIA’s upgraded security infrastructure and operational protocols, which include strengthened access controls, enhanced surveillance systems, and robust internal procedures. Discussions also focused on the upcoming renegotiation of the Sales and Marketing Agreement, with NAMDIA sharing insights from nearly a decade of experience in the diamond value chain.
Deputy Prime Minister Ithete praised NAMDIA’s social responsibility initiatives and encouraged continued confidence in the institution. Acting CEO Ms. Usiku described the visit as a strong affirmation of the Ministry’s guidance, inspiring the company to continue delivering value with transparency and national purpose.
The visit concluded with a dialogue on shared challenges, policy alignment, and the importance of ongoing engagement to ensure a cohesive strategy across Namibia’s diamond sector.
