Background

It finally happened… The Witcher series is back!

(SPOILERS AHEAD)

G grabbed his silver sword and Jacques poured his emotional support ale, because Breakfast with Jacques and G were ready!!!

Yes, it’s THAT season… you know the one: Henry Cavill hangs up his wig and Liam Hemsworth steps in as Geralt of Rivia!

And let’s be honest, that’s like swapping your Amarula for skim milk — still drinkable, but… you feel it.

Now, Netflix promised us a “new chapter,” but what we actually got feels more like the world’s longest “previously on.”

It’s bleh — not great. It’s like when your mom says, “I’m not angry, I’m just disappointed.” Still fantasy, still swords, still chaos… but with a bit less oomph.

This time around, we’ve got three storylines:

  • Geralt wandering around war zones looking for Ciri.
  • Ciri hanging out with a new emo friend group called The Rats (because apparently, therapy wasn’t an option)
  • And Yennefer doing her usual magical drama queen thing, building an army of glittery chaos.

Yennefer absolutely steals the season: fireballs, and sass for days.

There’s a final battle scene… Be on the look-out bet way to describe is if Hogwarts and The Avengers had a baby, this would be it.

Meanwhile, Ciri’s story… kind of limps along like a side quest you forgot to finish. Love her, but half the time she looks like she wants to speak to the manager of destiny.

As for Liam Hemsworth, bless him, he’s trying his best. He’s got the grunt, the sword, the scowl, but we’re all still mentally cheating on him with Henry Cavill.

Jacques says It’s not his fault; it’s like when your favourite barman leaves, and the new guy just can’t make your drink right yet. G says give him time, maybe by Season 5, he’ll nail it.

Now, let’s talk villains, Sharlto Copley shows up as Leo Bonhart!

And honestly? He’s terrifying in the best way! Think “Namibian uncle who’s had one too many at the braai and wants to argue about politics” in this case, make it fantasy.

The verdict?

Season 4 is K@K, but definitely looks like a set-up season. You can feel Netflix preparing us for something, probably not this!

So yes, The Witcher: Season 4 gives you monsters, magic, and mild confusion. It’s not quite “Toss a Coin to Your Witcher” levels of epic — more like “Toss a Compliment, But Maybe Just One.”

Our rating: Not ka-boom it’s K@K. Worth a watch if you miss Henry Cavill or just like growly men swinging swords.
