Back in the days of our parents and grandparents there weren’t a lot of jobs or careers to choose from, however, along with technological and societal advancements came a lot of new careers; in fact there are a lot more careers in this world than you might realise and a bunch of them are pretty strange.
So this past weekend I used some of my time off to hunt down the weirdest jobs out there and well I found quite a few – too many to mention in one go.
BUT here are some of the weirdest of the bunch:
Professional Sleeper
No, you cannot hire somebody to sleep on your behalf! That is not how this works (although who in the right mind would want to do that anyway). Professional sleeper is a job that a lot of hotels offer for people to come and sleep in their rooms and test the comfort level of their beds. All you require is a fluent local language – And of course, a knack to sleep for long.
Clearly I’ve missed out on my dream career.
Paint Dry Watcher
This one is quite boring, not gonna lie. It involves you, no joke, getting paid to sit and watch paint dry. You legit have to watch different paints dry up and tell the company which one dries first and what is the time taken by each sample to dry.
Talk about a bore of a job.
Professional Queuer
Yes if you hate queues, then you can pay a pro queuer to go and stand in the queue for you. Similar to that one episode of The Big Bang Theory where Sheldon pays Stuart money to wait in the queue for him.
That’s pretty much it.
So yes, you get some pretty strange jobs in this world and some pretty awesome ones too – like seriously where do I apply to become a pro sleeper?
