UNAM allows senior students with outstanding fees to register under payment plan

todayJanuary 29, 2026

Background

The University of Namibia (UNAM) has granted relief to eligible senior students by allowing those with outstanding fees of less than N$50,000 to register after signing a payment plan agreement.

UNAM spokesperson Simon Namesho said the move is aimed at preventing academic exclusion and ensuring that final-year students can complete their studies and graduate.

The initiative specifically targets students in their last years of study who may otherwise be barred from registration due to unpaid fees. Namesho explained that students who owe more than the N$50,000 threshold may still qualify once their outstanding balance is reduced to the required level and the necessary agreement is signed.

He stressed that the arrangement is temporary, subject to strict deadlines, and overrides all previous payment announcements made by the university.

Affected students are urged to register as soon as possible and to consult the official notice issued by the Registrar and the Finance Department for full details on the requirements and conditions.
