Two independent candidates in the Kavango Region have announced their intentions to contest in the upcoming regional council elections — one in the Kapako Constituency in Kavango West, and the other in the Mukwe Constituency in Kavango East.

Frans Kasera Kamina has declared his interest to stand as an independent candidate in Kapako Constituency.

Kamina said his campaign will focus on promoting food security and agriculture, while also fostering unity among residents.

Meanwhile, businessman and Ngongo Cooking Oil founder, Isdor Muronga, has also entered the race as an independent candidate for Mukwe Constituency.

Speaking to NewsonOne, Muronga said his candidacy is in response to calls from residents who believe in his capacity to drive development in the constituency. He cited his vast experience in business and understanding of both local and global economies.

Muronga added that many residents have lost faith in party-affiliated candidates, believing they lack the acumen needed to spearhead meaningful development.

“My agenda is to create unity of purpose and formulate a Constituency Development Plan aligned with NDP6, to stimulate grassroots economic growth,” said Muronga.

In Kavango West, two of the eight constituencies, Musese and Kapako will elect new councillors.

In Kavango East, only Ndiyona Constituency will retain its current councillor, while the remaining five constituencies are expected to elect new leaders.
