Emotions ran high as the hearse departed Independence Stadium, with mourners like Lucia Ndeshihafela Nghipumbwa, who traveled from Ohangwena, visibly overcome with grief. The Navy formed an honorary guard along the Heroes’ Acre driveway, while an estimated 3,000 people were already seated, with more still arriving.
