The Swakopmund Municipality officially handed over the construction site that will mark the beginning of the N$4.8 million Mole cubicles upgrade project last week.
The project will transform the old sitting areas at the Mole into enclosed cubicles designed to serve as storage facilities for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to display their unique arts and crafts.
According to the Swakopmund Municipality’s public relations officer, Linda Mupupa, the construction is set to be completed during October this year.
“This ambitious initiative demonstrates our commitment to enhancing facilities and creating better experiences for everyone visiting the Mole.”
She also said that in addition to the construction of the cubicles, a wooden lighthouse tower will be built, housing four toilets, a security services room and a sea rescue room to ensure safety and convenience for everyone.
“To regulate swimmers and boating activities, the tower will also be equipped with boom facilities to effectively monitor the launching area.”
“This upgrade promises not only to support local entrepreneurs but also to enhance safety and visitor enjoyment at one of Swakopmund’s most,” she said.
