Namibian Police Inspector General Joseph Shikongo, has cautioned officers against treating official vehicles as personal property.
Speaking during a public meeting in Rundu on Friday in Kavango East, Shikongo said vehicles must be used strictly for official duties and in service of the public.
“If a vehicle is allocated to a police officer, it should not be parked at their home. Instead, it must be stationed at the office where the officer is assigned, to ensure timely response to crime reports,” he stated.
His remarks come amid rising concerns from residents about increasing crime rates and delayed police responses in the region.
