Petrofund, McDermott partner to build skills in oil and gas sector

Petroleum Training and Education Fund (PETROFUND) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with international energy engineering and construction giant McDermott to strengthen local expertise in the country’s growing oil and gas sector.

The agreement will help improve technical training, professional development, and knowledge transfer between local professionals and McDermott’s global teams. Petrofund spokesperson Shoki Kandjimi said the partnership will help ensure that Namibians are well equipped to participate in upcoming oil exploration and production projects.

The government established the Petroleum Training and Education Fund in 1992 in recognition of the scarcity of skilled personnel in the petroleum exploration and production industry.
