Over 275 Law Enforcement Officers Trained in Mental Health Care

has disclosed that at least 50 City of Windhoek police officers, 150 national police officers, and 75 correctional officers have received training on handling mental health cases. Speaking in Parliament, she said the sessions cover basic mental health skills, screening, psychological first aid, managing emergencies, and de-escalation techniques. While acknowledging that more officers still need training, Dr Luvindao emphasised that the initiative is crucial to ensuring inmates with mental health conditions receive appropriate care.
