The Namibia National Students Organisation (NANSO) has met with the national task team on free tertiary education. The organisation called for student representation in the process and for financial support that includes transport, meals, and other non-tuition costs. NANSO President Dorthea Nangolo suggested two funding options. A national education levy, or an education sovereign wealth fund.

She said these mechanisms would provide sustainable support, especially for students not fully covered by the Namibia Student Financial Assistance Fund (NSFAF).

The task force is expected to release a roadmap by August. This document will outline the steps, policies, and funding structures needed to implement free tertiary education by 2026. Nangolo said free education will not be effective if students are excluded from decision-making or if support only covers tuition fees.
