Nandi-Ndaitwah to evaluate ministers’ performance

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has established a performance monitoring dashboard to track the progress of all government projects under implementation.

Nandi-Ndaitwah also says she will subject the newly elected Cabinet to regular evaluations, starting within the next three months.

Speaking at the opening of the first Cabinet meeting of the 8th administration at State House, Nandi-Ndaitwah urged ministers to adhere to the Cabinet Handbook, which will form a critical guideline when they carry out their ministerial and national responsibilities.

“Your conduct must be ethical and beyond reproach. You must be exemplary and hardworking servant of the Namibian people. There will be a dashboard where I will monitor the progress of every project under implementation. Also, be mindful that your performance will be evaluated regularly starting within the next three months on the basis of the key performance indicators in your terms of reference,” said Nandi-Ndaitwah.

Nandi-Ndaitwah said she does not want to hear ministries and agencies saying that they found nothing happening at ministries.

“We should therefore build on those foundations we are finding there. I don’t want to hear anybody saying when I got into this office, I found nothing. That is not true. You have just to build on what you are finding there so that we can move and serve our people. Let us get on with the work in unison to bring about social progress and prosperity to our people as they deserve it,” said Nandi-Ndaitwah.

Nandi-Ndaitwah underscored the need to transform the mining sector into a key driver of economic growth, advocating for value addition to natural resources and increased job creation.
