Namport upgrades Walvis Bay port equipment to improve efficiency and safety

todayFebruary 2, 2026

Background

The Namibian Ports Authority (Namport) has introduced next-generation reach stackers at the Port of Walvis Bay as part of its ongoing port modernisation drive aimed at improving efficiency, safety, and service delivery.

The E-Series machines, supplied by Forklift Allied Equipment, are capable of stacking containers up to five high, increasing container handling capacity while reducing equipment downtime and operational risks.

Namport’s Manager for Marketing and Stakeholder Engagement, Cliff Shikuambi, said the new equipment will strengthen the port’s ability to deliver reliable and efficient services to clients while meeting international port standards.

The investment is also expected to improve vessel turnaround times and reinforce Namibia’s position as a key regional logistics hub.
