In 2023, numerous exceptional Anime series, both new and returning, have graced our screens, offering us some fantastic content. This year has offered a lot to anime enthusiasts, whether it’s popular sequels, new series, or even reboots. While several series shine brighter than others, some hidden gems may go unnoticed.

Here are my 5 Top anime series picks of 2023 (in no particular order) thus far, and I’ll continue to update this list, so stay tuned for more!

1. Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2
In 2023, Jujutsu Kaisen is the standout anime series, boasting a massive global following. The new season has been eagerly awaited for three years and has brought a significant transformation in the art style and character design.
Fans have welcomed these changes, as they result in more dynamic and cinematic visuals. The ongoing season will delve into  Gojo’s Past and Shibuya Incident arcs from the manga, promising intense and emotionally impactful moments.

2. Demon Slayer Season 3
In 2023, Demon Slayer Season 3, focusing on the Swordsmith Village arc, stirred up considerable online buzz. Despite a minor controversy about a CGI-created demon, the animation remains impressive.

While Zenitsu and Inosuke are absent from this season, the inclusion of Mitsuri Kanroji and Tokito Muichiro compensates for it. Notably, this season unveils Muzan’s backstory and showcases some of the most memorable battles in the series.

3. Rurouni Kenshin 2023
Rurouni Kenshin is back as a reboot of a classic historical Shonen anime series. While it may not have the same extensive fanbase as Jujutsu Kaisen and Demon Slayer, its compelling story appeals to a wide audience. The reboot remains faithful to the original plot but features improved animation and an engaging soundtrack.

The narrative revolves around Kenshin Himura, a former assassin grappling with the challenges of a newfound era of peace. However, his past resurfaces, compelling him to once again wield his blade, this time to safeguard those he cares about.

4. Hell’s Paradise
Hell’s Paradise is an often overlooked but exceptional Shonen series. Initially gaining attention for its reputation as one of the darker Shonen manga, it was swiftly eclipsed by other titles. However, the anime adaptation by MAPPA has been outstanding.

It boasts top-tier visuals, a compelling soundtrack, and exceptional character design. The series seamlessly combines impressive animation with elements of gore and darkness.

Furthermore, the unconventional protagonist is as endearing as any typical Shonen character. Excitingly, a second season of the series has been confirmed.

5. Vinland Saga Season 2
Vinland Saga stands as a modern anime masterpiece. Its second season, released this year, kicked off impressively. In contrast to many other series characterized by exaggerated characters and plots, Vinland Saga adopts a more realistic approach.

It candidly depicts violence and the harshness of its setting, which can be challenging to watch. Nevertheless, the unconventional character designs remain a fundamental aspect of this epic tale.

Picking just 5 titles for this list of anime was really difficult, but as always there are a whole lot more to binge and enjoy.
