Did you know the 8th of June is World Ocean Day? It’s more than just a calendar date—it’s a global call to action. Our oceans cover over 70% of the Earth’s surface, support millions of species (humans included), and play a vital role in climate regulation, food security, and economic stability.

Here in Namibia, we’re lucky enough to live alongside one of the most breathtaking coastlines on the planet. From Cape fur seals sunbathing on the rocks to whales breaching off the Skeleton Coast, our marine life is nothing short of spectacular. But with that beauty comes responsibility.
To celebrate our Ocean, we’re joined by Odile Gertze from Wild Africa, who helps us unpack what World Ocean Day really means for us locally. We talk about the challenges facing our Atlantic waters, why healthy marine ecosystems matter more than ever, and—most importantly—the small but powerful steps each of us can take to protect our ocean.
Whether you’re a diver, surfer, seafood lover, or beach stroller, this conversation is for you.
