OK, fair enough… the title is maybe a little “click-baity” but I needed to get your attention somehow!?

In today’s edition of “Stories you can absolutely NOT make up!!!”

A state senator in Mississippi has filed a bill entitled the “Contraception Begins at Erection Act.”

Sen. Bradford Blackmon, filed this bill that would make it “unlawful for a person to discharge genetic material without the intent to fertilize an embryo.”

And he is serious! There will be some serious fines involved, with the third strike resulting in the loss of N$184 000 from the offender!

Now, does this sound ridiculous?

Yes! It does… but it’s absolutely brilliant, and here’s why!

  1. It rhymes! Contraception Begins At Erection! Put that on a banner!
  1. But on a serious note, the absolute ludicrous nature of this bill is what makes it not only brilliant, but actually VERY important…

In a statement to Sen. Blackmon wrote, “All across the country, especially here in Mississippi, the vast majority of bills relating to contraception focus on the woman’s role when men are fifty percent of the equation. This bill highlights that fact and brings the man’s role into the conversation. People can get up in arms and call it absurd but I can’t say that bothers me.”

So while Sen. Blackmon is doing this with good intention, can you imagine it actually got passed and put into effect as a law!?

At the time of writing, it’s still early morning, but I bet you a sizeable portion of America’s men would be facing fines before lunch today if the bill was immediately passed!!!
