Drug-related offences topped the weekend crime statistics, with seven cases recorded across various parts of the country, according to police reports.
On Friday, police arrested three Namibian male suspects aged 26, 28 and 43 on the Kamanjab Outjo road, approximately eight kilometres outside Kamanjab.
The suspects, including the driver and alleged owner of the drugs, were apprehended after a freight Iveco truck with Windhoek registration was stopped and searched during a police operation.
Two parcels of suspected cannabis were found concealed in a white box under the passenger seat.
In a separate incident, a 51-year-old Namibian male was arrested on Friday at Etunda village along the Okahao–Oshakati main road (C41) in the Omusati Region.
The suspect was found in possession of two parcels of cannabis (skunk) weighing 2,108 grams, as well as cash amounting to N$46 043.00, which he failed to account for satisfactorily.
The total value of the drugs and cash is estimated at N$110 043.00.
He is due to appear in the Outapi Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 12 January 2026.
At around 11:00 on the same day, police arrested a 38-year-old Namibian male at Michael Angelo Street in the Damara Location, Katutura.
The suspect was found in possession of 30 grams of cocaine valued at N$15 000.00 during a police operation.
Meanwhile, at around 14:12, a 30-year-old Namibian male was arrested in the DRC location (Wagdaar) in Swakopmund.
He was found in possession of cannabis (skunk), majad cannabis and mandrax tablets, with a combined value of N$560.00.
Police also arrested a Namibian male of unknown age at Perspeka village in the Mangetti area. The suspect was found in possession of one medium parcel of cannabis (skunk) valued at N$1 900.00.
In another incident, a 20-year-old Namibian male was arrested at Mahatma Gandhi Street in Khomasdal after he was found in possession of 35 grams of cannabis (skunk) valued at N$1 750.00.
Additionally, police arrested a 24-year-old Namibian female at Vergenoeg along the Trans-Kalahari route in the Gobabis District.
A total of 254 sachets of cannabis valued at N$22 750.00 were found in the suspect’s shack during a police operation.
Police investigations into all cases continue.
