It’s finally back to the Big Screen! Ster Kinekor in Windhoek is reopening its doors, allowing movie enthusiasts to return.

To help you plan your December entertainment, The Vibe Drive has compiled a list of highly anticipated films, some of which will also be available on streaming platforms, if you prefer the comfort of your couch.

Despite a challenging year, December 2023 promises an array of films spanning genres such as monster movies, action films, superhero flicks, animated features, and thought-provoking arthouse productions. Before diving into next year’s lineup, which is expected to showcase films delayed by strikes from the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA, let’s explore the exciting movies scheduled for release in December 2023:

Godzilla Minus One

Directed by Takashi Yamazaki, this Japanese kaiju film takes a horror-oriented approach, deviating from the conventional action-packed Godzilla narrative. Released in Japan on November 3, it hits U.S. theaters on December 1, 2023.

Silent Night 

Directed by John Woo, this action-packed film starring Joel Kinnaman unfolds without any dialogue, offering a unique cinematic experience. Silent Night debuts in theaters on December 1, 2023.

Poor Things

Directed by Yorgos Lanthimos and featuring a star-studded cast including Emma Stone and Mark Ruffalo, Poor Things, a black comedy fantasy, is set to release on December 8, 2023.

The Boy and the Heron

Hayao Miyazaki returns after a decade with a Studio Ghibli animated film. Scheduled for release on December 8, 2023, it boasts an impressive cast lending their voices to the characters.

Ferrari

Michael Mann returns to the director’s chair with Ferrari, a biographical drama starring Adam Driver as Enzo Ferrari. The film premieres on December 25, 2023.
