President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah is officially launching a massive multi-million-dollar petroleum storage and regional pipeline project in Walvis Bay on Wednesday. The milestone project is being spearheaded by billionaire industrialist Aliko Dangote who is in Namibia for the official ceremony at Farm 58. The development features a major petroleum storage facility equipped with petrol, diesel, and dispensing tanks, alongside a truck port and a 16-kilometre pipeline connecting the fuel jetty. Crucially, the broader regional pipeline will extend inland toward Otjiwarongo, Rundu, and into Botswana’s Ghanzi district, a move designed to ease pressure on road infrastructure by cutting down heavy tanker traffic. Officials say the project aims to reinforce fuel security, create local business and job opportunities, and cement Walvis Bay’s status as a premier gateway for regional trade.
