Court Rules Against Exclusive Fibre Deal

todaySeptember 25, 2025

Background

The High Court has ruled in favour of the Communications Regulatory Authority, invalidating a clause in a 2012 fibre lease agreement between NamPower, MTC, and Telecom Namibia. The clause had given operators exclusive access to NamPower’s dark fibre with automatic renewal. Mufaro Nesongano, Executive for Communication and Consumer Relations at CRAN, said the decision supports fair competition in the telecom sector.
