A House Cleaning “Test”

todayJanuary 27, 2026

Background

If you are in a position to afford someone who can come and clean your house, how would the start of that process go?

Do you do a trial run?

“Come clean one time, if we are happy we’ll keep you on?”

While I don’t know how one would go about that, I DO know this is NOT how you do it…

A house cleaner went viral after going online and showing what outlandish request the client had, in order to see if they did a good job.

A bright pink “Post It” note, stuck to a glass jar read:

Are you kidding me!? This person is here to clean, not play your horrible little game. And to basically say “Find all the ducks or else!”

What sick powerplay is that!?

The cleaner, in the process of, you know, DOING THEIR JOB, managed to find 76 little ducks. And well done to them because they later emailed the client, said they “didn’t have time for games,” and quit.

The client’s response: “It was just a joke!”

Someone can clean their house all they want, but “S & J” will always be the biggest pieces of trash in that house.

Also, if you have time to hide 100 little rubber ducks around your house, come on man, use that time properly and just clean your own house instead.

Some of the ducks the cleaner found (and yeesh, house is kind of gross…):
