The Employment Equity Commission has summoned fifteen employers to appear before a Review Panel for failing to comply with the Affirmative Action (Employment) Act.

The hearings will take place from the 21st to the 22nd of January 2026 at the National Council in Windhoek and will be open to the public and the media.

According to the Commission, the Review Panels will assess deficiencies in affirmative action reports and evaluate whether employers are making genuine efforts to promote fair and equitable employment practices.

Ministry of Labour, Industrial Relations and Employment Creation spokesperson Jeremia Namalenga says the hearings form part of the Commission’s mandate to strengthen accountability, promote inclusion, and advance equal opportunity in workplaces across Namibia.

The Commission says the panels are empowered to issue binding orders. In cases where non-compliance constitutes an offence under the Act, criminal charges may follow.
