Actor and Idol: Dating Done Right Lunch w/ Yanika

David Guetta has done it again. “Gone Gone Gone,” his latest collab with Teddy Swims and Tones and I, is part dancefloor euphoria, part heart-wrenching truth. It’s the kind of track that reminds you why these artists are at the top of their game.
David Guetta — The French DJ/producer is no stranger to massive hits, dancefloor anthems, and working with big names. He’s been riding a huge wave lately: crowed World’s No.1 DJ by DJ Mag (for the fifth time), big residencies in Ibiza, and with his Monolith shows and stadium stops, he continues to blend spectacle with sound. Teddy Swims — With his soulful, emotional voice, Swims has been building a loyal fanbase through honest lyrics and crossover appeal. Hits like “Lose Control” have shown he can carry powerful emotion while still delivering pop hooks that stick.
Tones and I — Bursting into global fame with “Dance Monkey,” she’s developed a distinctive voice, not just vocally but in how she steeps her songs in personality. Her album Beautifully Ordinary showcased growth and a stronger artistic identity, and this collab pushes that even further.
“Gone Gone Gone” blends soul-pop, dance, gospel, and electronic production in a way that feels both familiar and fresh. The track starts off gently — dreamy atmosphere with soft piano and house keys, building tension. Then it opens up: drums, sweeping strings, golden sax, gospel-vibe backing vocals.
Lyrically, the theme is toxic love, longing, regret, and that painful pull when absence seems to make the heart want more — even if that love has hurt you. There’s that contrast between wanting someone when they’re gone, knowing the relationship may be messy, yet being unable to let go.
Teddy Swims takes the first cut, delivering raw emotion, imagery like “We were fire, impossible to tame / Like oil in the ocean,” which paints something beautiful but volatile. Then Tones And I adds her voice — a different texture but matching intensity — with lines like “Had a good bad lovin’ in my heart / And now I need a sequel to the movie we made.” The chorus (“I only want you when you’re gone, gone, gone / Playing like we’re done, done, done / I love your game, drive me insane”) hits like a confession you can dance to.
Production-wise, Guetta blends the emotional and the energetic. The arrangement lets you feel the vulnerability in the verses while still giving you the crescendo in the chorus that makes it crave replay. There’s a push-pull between soft and loud, calm and storm, which is a big part of what makes it resonate.
It’s the first time these three have come together on one song — which means the combination of styles (soul, pop, electronic) is new, exciting, and risks paying off.
Guetta continues to prove he can do more than club anthems; he’s tapping into emotion, into storytelling, not just beats.
For Teddy Swims and Tones and I, this is another chance to stretch themselves, to reach broader audiences by merging with Guetta’s production scale.
“Gone Gone Gone” is already making noise — and yes, it’s featured on The Hype Hotlist Countdown. Tune in Fridays at 6pm (with reruns Saturdays at 4pm) on Radiowave to catch it, along with all the tracks everybody’s talking about this week.
