Global African Hydrogen Summit discusses investment and industrial opportunities

The Global African Hydrogen Summit 2025 opened in Windhoek on Tuesday. The event brings together industry leaders to discuss investment, industrialisation, and sustainable growth in Africa’s green hydrogen sector.

Johannes Michels, Managing Director of HyIron Green Technologies, and Namibia’s Green Hydrogen Commissioner, James Mnyupe, highlighted Namibia’s plans to mobilise $1.7 billion (approx. N$33 billion) for local hydrogen projects.

Mnyupe said the funds will support multiple projects, including Delres’ ammonia sulfate plant, which is set to break ground during the summit. He also noted that Alex Savaris, CMB, and Clinegy have opened a hydrogen service station that is already producing hydrogen.

The summit aims to position Namibia as a key player in the global green hydrogen value chain, attract investment, and boost sustainable industrialisation.
