Senior officials from U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) have concluded a two-day visit to Namibia aimed at deepening military cooperation and regional stability between the countries. Led by Deputy Commander Lieutenant General John W. Brennan and Ambassador Robert Scott, the delegation held strategic talks with Defence Minister Frans Kapofi in Windhoek.

During the meetings, officials discussed a range of collaboration areas, including joint military training, maritime security, and efforts to combat trafficking in wildlife and timber. Brennan emphasized Namibia’s importance as a “key anchor for stability in southern Africa”, while Scott highlighted AFRICOM’s commitment to “working alongside partners like Namibia to support security, stability, and prosperity.”

U.S. Embassy spokesperson Julia Haludilu reiterated Washington’s priority on collaborative and sustainable defense diplomacy with fellow African states.

The visit underscores growing strategic alignment, with both sides exploring cooperation in public health infrastructure, maritime domain awareness, and field hospital construction—projects designed to support broader resilience and defense partnerships.
