When is it TOO Much A.I. in a Music Video?

With A.I. becoming more and more prominent in everyday usage, from University students to the entertainment industry and more, it’s something we kind of need to learn and get used to. But when does it become too much?

Obviously, we know CGI exists, especially in movies and music, because duh! We don’t have any intergalactic and sci-fi stuff in real life. But when is it too much?

I’ve got an example that EVERYONE could agree on having taken it too far. And don’t get me wrong, I love a good futuristic, fantasy vibe for visuals. But not when I can see the A.I. didn’t work out great cause the artists don’t look like themselves in some scenes and that the syncing of lyrics to mouth movements is way off. Then I’m upset.

I actually really like the song, but the video irks SO BAD. So closer to the end of video where the girls are flying around town, Rose (in silver below), doesn’t look like herself as seen in the rest of the video. It is very weird. Then Jisoo (in red below), majority of the time, her mouth movements aren’t synced to the lyrics of the song and it’s SO obvious.

And worst of all? When they are all running, it looks like they took still images of the girls and A.I. them singing. Because it’s basically just their arms moving (cause they’re supposed to be running) and their mouths. Jennie for example (in black below) has a tilted head that doesn’t move AT ALL while she’s running. It’s really creepy. I won’t lie.

Some parts are very obviously A.I. or CGI, like with the crowds, the drone shots, and a few others but that is fine cause it’s not supposed to look realistic (okay maybe the drone shots of the buildings cause why are they warping like that???) but the animation of the girls in most shots is unsettling. So check it out and see for yourself. I could be exaggerating in my description but I don’t think I’m that far off.

I think more training in CGI and A.I. might have been need for this video, UNLESS their aim was for everything to look very unrealistic and disturbing, which I honestly doubt but you never know.

But that’s just my 2 cents on how A.I. should NOT be used.
