Ongwediva Trade Fair raises N$1.6 Million at gala fundraiser

The 2025 Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair (OATF) kicked off its preparations with a resounding success at last Saturday’s fundraising gala held at the Trade Fair Centre. According to Future Media’s Maria Namupala, the event raised over N$1.6 million, exceeding last year’s N$1.3 million haul.

Headline sponsor Mobile Telecommunications Ltd (MTC) pledged N$350,000, reaffirming its support as a growth driver for entrepreneurship and SME market access. Standard Bank Namibia, Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC), and the Road Fund Administration also made significant contributions toward funding the OATF.

The fair is expected to host over 450 international and local exhibitors, reflecting economic vibrancy and cross-border cooperation. This year’s theme, “Innovate, Connect, Prosper,” aligns with both the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) objectives and Namibia’s National Development Plans.

Ongwediva Town Council Chairperson Rebecca Hidulika emphasised that the OATF continues to serve as a platform to showcase local SMEs and foster sustainable economic integration under the AfCFTA. The funds will be used to enhance exhibition facilities, marketing, and logistical support ahead of the 22–30 August fair.
