The newly appointed education minister Sanet Steenkamp said successful integration does not happen automatically but requires effort, collaboration, and a commitment to work together. Steenkamp heads the expanded Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sport, Arts, and Culture.
Speaking at a meet-and-greet event at Eros Primary School in Windhoek on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, Steenkamp highlighted the need for collective efforts as two ministries merge into one. She stressed that to ensure a smooth and productive transition, they must embrace key qualities that foster collaboration and alignment.
“Truly help us to deliver on the mandate with greater impact, because impact is all I want to see and pledge. It truly requires intentional effort, collaboration and the commitment to work together and thus to ensure that this transition is smooth and productive and we must embrace key qualities that foster collaboration and alignment,” remarked Steenkamp
Steenkamp added that they have five years to implement the National Development Plan 6 and fulfil the Swapo Party manifesto commitments.
“And if there’s anybody that does not have the implementation plan, please make sure that you get a soft copy and that you are familiarising yourself with these four areas, key areas, out of seven that is assigned to us. Therefore, it’s important for me also to state to my team, you, that our efforts must be harmonised so that we maximise our strengths and resources for the benefit of every single Namibian,” said Steenkamp.

Steenkamp urged staff members to embrace new beginnings with enthusiasm, determination, and a strong sense of collective responsibility.
