A 51-year-old woman from Walvis Bay was defrauded of N$ 777,568.23 by a suspect who posed as a Bank Windhoek representative and obtained her confidential banking details.
The incident occurred on Monday, 10 March 2025, between 14:58 and 16:00 via internet banking. The suspect unlawfully called the victim, misrepresented themselves as a bank official, and manipulated her into providing sensitive banking information.
The Namibian police Chief Inspector Elifas Kuwinga has confirmed that no arrests have been made, and no funds have been recovered. The police investigation is ongoing.
