Link Park has been in the news a lot lately! They had a 1oo hour countdown timer on their website, and then when it ran out, nothing happened…
Around the same time Sum 41’s singer, Deryck Whibley, said he is also going to be making an announcement soon. Given the fact that Sum 41’s days are almost over, and that Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park had performed Linkin Park songs with Sum 41, many thought “Oh, is the Sum 41 guy gonna be the new vocalist?”
Turns out, no… he was just announcing something about a book… and so the Linkin Park mystery carried on.
Until this morning around some unspeakable hour when I woke up…
“Linkin Park has a new singer!”
Described as the “Janis Joplin of the Arena Rock Age” Linkin Park has welcomed Emily Armstrong to the band!
Now, let’s get the obvious out the way…
Chester Bennington cannot be replaced. An ICONIC voice! And that scream…
But… I’ve had a couple listens to the new song titled “The Emptiness Machine” this morning, and MY. GOODNESS! Emily Armstrong is a BEAST!!! What a voice!
Emily can belt with the best of them, but at the same time, she’s hitting those raspy “voice breaking” notes Chester did so well…
I’m simply a fan, but I feel Linkin Park chose her for a reason, and knowing that, I feel like Chester would be proud of what his brothers in the band, have done, and that despite the immeasurable loss, they decided to continue with Linkin Park!
I will also admit, with the good news off Emily joining the band, I was sad to learn that founding member and drummer, Rob Bourdon decided to not return to the band. He is replaced by Colin Brittain who has worked mainly as a producer with artists like 5 Seconds of Summer and Papa Roach.
“The Emptiness Machine” is off Linkin Parks upcoming album “From Zero” set to be released on November 15, 2024
