Look no further for your next source of inspiration — Jimin‘s MUSE has arrived, bringing with it seven new solo tracks from the BTS star.
Jimin helped write six of the song according to a release, which also noted that the announcement from BIGHIT Music featured a vintage feel via images of old-school cassette tapes representing each song, with an overarching theme of “love” connecting all the tracks.
Although an official press release describes “Muse” as “his journey in search of the source of his inspiration,” it feels more like a sometimes-fruitless search for an elusive muse.
Across the seven songs — which feels more like six, because “Interlude: Showtime” is just an instrumental that leads into the third track, the single “Smeraldo Garden Marching Band (feat. Loco)”, which was pre-released 3 weeks earlier — Jimin finds his footing with songs that don’t aim to be innovative but are charming nonetheless.
“Who” is an enchanting R&B tune that slays the dance floor and the hearts of dancers with a little recorder-like accent on the beat. The other one that grabs with its rhythm is the song “Be Mine,” with it’s bombastic afrobeat song (we somewhat love hearing how well some artists can use afrobeats in their songs).
The album closes with “Closer Than This,” a love letter to fans that was previously released in December, a stripped back, easy listening coda.
Here’s the tracklist:
