Growing up in KwaZulu Natal (aka KZN) Midlands (plaas kind) and Durban, I loved listening to radio. Two of my biggest influences in radio were Kevin Savage (he used to be with Capital 604) and Daryl Ilbury who was with Radio Port Natal now known as East Coast Radio…somehow this seems to show my age.
Every Saturday I sat in front of my radio, pen and paper in hand, and listened to the chart shows and tried my utmost to guess the number 1 song. hese days with Take40 Namibia on Radiowave, I get to find out who is at number 1 first! Who would have known life would take such a turn.
Other than my love for music and radio (and the singer Pitbull) , I try to remain active (and we’re not talking about the mind jumping to conclusions). After many years spent inside the gym, I decided to go outside and test the tennis courts and found an absolute love for the game. Besides the fact I can smash the ball around, I have the opportunity to scream when hit and sound like a professional tennis player.
As for being a DJ, I’m not really on air all that often these days but if you listen you might catch me on from time to time. Some listeners have even called to ask what I do for a living since I’m always available to sit in for the DJs who are off for a while. The answer is…I’m the Queen Ninja.
