A (very!) long time ago in a galaxy far far away…as you can tell, I’m a Star Wars fan…anyway, I’m a native of the coolest Town (Cape Town), but spent most of my school career in Windhoek…then became a professional surf/scuba bum (other people call it studying) for 5 years.

I started my radio career in Namibia in 1999, and in 2000 I joined the Radiowave team.  All I can say about the 5 years I spent with Radiowave is:  “Man, what an adventure with the weirdest people on earth, and I loved every moment”. 

Backtracking a bit (waaaaay back)...When I was a child, my parents used to pay me not to I get paid to talk.  Kismet!

Well, my name is Chops and I love being in my 30’s. My dream is to transform attitudes and thinking through my passions. My background is not like a lot of other Namibians – yes, my parents were hardworking, they tried to give me the best education and opportunities but I have always believed in doing things myself and my own way!

I was born in Oranjemund but grew up in Windhoek, I am super proudly Namibian and often joke that I was born in this country and I dam well intend to die in this country ... just not any time soon. Having been with Radiowave for a long time now, I've been a DJ for many years, dabbled in Marketing for a few, and am currently sniffing out news stories.

I have had the pleasure of working for Radiowave since 2008. I started out reading news on the Waking Crew, and within the first three months I had my most embarrassing live on-air moment ever: Mispronouncing the airline name, Qantas Airways. Say it a few times and you should soon find out how I said it and why it was so embarrassing.

I’m the music loving, lettuce hating, ear wiggling sound guy. With Deadmau5, Benny Benassi, Tiesto, Avicci, Fedde Le Grand, Afrojack and Nervo on repeat, I use my spare time to make electronic music. For now only for myself, but soon for the world... You’ll see.
