Senior staff at the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration have until Monday to submit internal audit reports on suspected fraudulent activities in the issuance of national documents.
The ministry has been facing challenges with a persistent trend of fraud and fake documents, especially birth certificates being found in possession of the public when applying for ID cards. According to the Namibia Press Agency, the ministry is in the process of investigating some employees within the ministry in some regions, who were suspected of altering and falsifying information on ID cards
