MoHSS confirms Haemorrhagic Fever case

In a press release issued on Thursday 10 August 2017 the Ministry of Health and Social Services reported that a case of Crimean-Congo Fever had been detected following the admission of a 63 year old man presenting symptoms of the viral disease.

The Ministry explains that the man was admitted to a private hospital on the 4th of August and transferred to the Windhoek Central Hospital on the 7th. The patient died on Wednesday the 9th of August and blood tests which had been sent to South Africa confirmed that he had CCHF. The Ministry are conducting tests in the Omusati region where the man came from, while all persons who came into contact with him are under observation, three of whom have been admitted to the Central Hospital's Isolation Unit for close observation. Visit the Radiowave Network News Facebook page for more information on the disease, including signs and symptoms to watch out for.
