e 20th is designated by the United Nations as the International Day of Happiness, and was first commemorated and launched in 2013 with Ndaba Mandela, grandson of the late President of South Africa Nelson Mandela and Chelsea Clinton, at the TedXTeen conference in New York.
This years celebration saw the stars of the upcoming film “Smurfs: The Lost Village” join the United Nations, the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund, and the United Nations Foundation to launch the #SmallSmurfsBigGoals campaign, which is designed to encourage young people around the world to learn about and support the 17 Sustainable Development Goals adopted by world leaders at the United Nations in 2015. These goals include decent work for all, access to nutritious food, quality education and health services, freedom from discrimination, and giving everyone a chance to enjoy peace, prosperity and happiness.
