Julia Michaels - Issues
Julia Michaels helped shape the sound of 2015/2016 as much as anyone with multiple credits on Selena Gomez’s Revival, Justin Bieber’s Purpose and Britney Spears’ Glory. The 23-year-old is now hoping to make the leap from songwriter to pop star with debut single “Issues,” which arrives today (January 13) via Republic. And she’s off to a flying start. Produced by Benny Blanco and Stargate, the deceptively upbeat bop that falls somewhere between “Good For You” and Gwen Stefani’s “Misery.” Which is obviously a very good thing.

“I’m jealous, I’m overzealous,” the budding diva begins the song. “When I’m down, I get real down.” Just when you think you’re in for a break-up anthem, the “Carry Me” singer flips it around in the chorus. “Cause I got issues but you got ‘em too, so give ‘em all to me and I’ll give mine to you.” It can be hard for songwriters to carve out a unique voice when they step out on their own (after all, they are chameleons by trade), but it doesn’t look like that will be a problem for Julia.

Mark Haze - Better Than This
For more than 15 years, Mark has been working tirelessly on establishing himself as one of the best live performers and musical talents in the country. He has certainly come a very long way since starting his first band, 12th Avenue in 2001 and has since kept the momentum going and growing, bringing it back full circle to his next upcoming single, ‘Better Than This’. The song was written with his long-time friend and 12th Avenue band member Bjorn Faree symbolising that Mark has come a significantly long way since their early days. The single truly describes what many artists experience in the stages of their career, and as Mark notes “Throughout everything I’ve gone through and will continue to go through, I know that I am truly blessed to be able to do what I love to do and have always dreamed of doing every day.”; a sentiment that sits firmly in the hearts of every working musician nowadays.

Alessia Cara - How far I'll go
Alessia Cara and Moana have released the sweet video for the single "How Far I'll Go." The Lin-Manuel Miranda-penned power ballad will appear in the upcoming Disney film starring Auli'i Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson.

The video begins with a clip of Moana sailing across the ocean at night. It transitions to Cara on a beach alone, walking barefoot and examining her surroundings. While taking in the beauty of the ocean and her location, Cara builds a device to make symbols and drawings in the sand. By the end, the camera pans out to reveal the beautiful design Cara has created on the beach, which may play a role in the upcoming film.
